AJCLA General Update - LSD, CACC Conferences, Summer Events, and Dues Payments to Remain an AJCLA Member

Hello AJCLA Members,

We look forward to seeing our colleagues at the LSD Conference scheduled for June 18-19, 2024. Due to the Oilers inspiring playoff run, and the schedule for the Stanley Cup final, the AJCLA will not be holding an event during the Conference this year. However, we do plan to hold social events in the summer in both cities. We hope to see you there, and will send further details as to those events when available.

Two members of our Executive will also be attending the Canadian Association of Crown Counsel Spring Conference this year in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This will be a valuable opportunity to learn from and liaise with other Provincial organizations, and we will update the membership as to what occurs at the Conference. This will be the second CACC Conference in as many years that we been able to attend due to our renewed strength as an organization.

Please also take a moment to pay your AJCLA dues for the 2024 year to remain a part of the AJCLA membership if you haven't already. Those dues allow us to maintain this organization, attend certain CACC conferences, and ensure that we keep a strong membership and ability to speak on behalf of Civil Crown Counsel when important issues arise, among other things. While receiving salary parity was an important step and a relief for LSD lawyers, we must ensure that we are ready to address the next challenge when it arises. 2024 dues can be paid by e-transfer to ajclatreasurer@gmail.com, and are:

  • Articling student – $0

  • Civil Crown Counsel 1 – $40

  • Civil Crown Counsel 2 – $60

  • Civil Crown Counsel 3 to 6 – $80

Please remind your colleagues to pay their dues as well. We will have to start removing members from the membership list if we do not receive their dues, and continuing to increase our membership is integral to the organization.

Sincerely,

The AJCLA Executive
